Inpatient diagnosed with COVID-19
Summary:
On April 25, a patient on one of the units at SickKids tested positive for COVID-19. The teenage patient is currently in an isolation room and is stable.
On Saturday, April 25, a patient on one of the units at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) tested positive for COVID-19. The teenage patient is currently in an isolation room and is stable. All necessary infection prevention and control measures are being taken to ensure the safety of patients, families and staff.
The other patients on the unit were also tested on Saturday for COVID-19 and all results were negative. Members of the clinical team are also being tested and will be off duty while awaiting test results.
SickKids is actively investigating how the virus was transmitted to the patient and is working closely with Toronto Public Health. At this time we believe the risk to patients, families and staff is low.
