Twin recovering following life-saving liver transplant from anonymous living donor
The transplant teams at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network have collaborated on a successful living donor liver transplant for three-year-old Binh Wagner. An anonymous donor donated a portion of their liver to Binh, who has Alagille syndrome. The donation surgery was performed at Toronto General Hospital and the transplant surgery took place at SickKids within the past month.
Binh’s twin sister Phuoc is doing well following her February 10 liver transplant.
The Wagner Family thanks the media and the public for the outpouring of support, and requests privacy at this time.
To protect the privacy and confidentiality of anonymous donors as required by Toronto General Hospital’s Living Donor Liver Program, the hospitals will not be releasing the date of the surgeries or any other possible identifying details.
