Dr. Alene Toulany is an Adolescent Medicine Specialist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Toronto. Clinically, Dr. Toulany works with youth with complex chronic conditions, including obesity and mental illness.  

She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University and post-graduate specialty training in Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University of Toronto, where she was also Chief Resident. Dr. Toulany is a graduate of the Veteran Affairs Quality Scholars (VAQS) Fellowship Program from Dartmouth College and the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at U of T.  In 2018, she completed her M.Sc. in Health Services Research at the Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation at U of T. Dr. Toulany’s research interests include quality of care and health services outcomes for youth with chronic health conditions and comorbid mental illness, especially around the time of transition to adult care.
