Biography

Dr. Suvasini Sharma is a Staff Neurologist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. She has completed her medical training (paediatrics and neurology) from various prestigious institutes in India, and paediatric epilepsy training in Canada. Her clinical and research interests include ketogenic diet therapies in children with epilepsy, infantile spasms and SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy). She has authored more than 240 papers in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals.

Research

Dr. Sharma has been one of the pioneers of the use of ketogenic diet therapy of drug resistant epilepsy in India. She has been working in this field for 18 years and has completed several studies, including the first randomized controlled trial of modified Atkins diet in refractory epilepsy.
