Biography

Dr. Heather Millar joined the section of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology in 2020 after completing her fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). She received her Medical Degree and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto.  

After her residency, Millar went to Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya, to work as Reproductive Health Team Leader and Faculty Obstetrician and Gynaecologist as part of the University of Toronto’s Dept. of ObGyn’s membership in the AMPATH (Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare) Consortium. While in Kenya, she helped start and then complete the University of Toronto Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Fellowship in Global Women’s Health and Equity, which focuses on care, teaching, and research to improve the health of marginalized women locally and globally.

Research

Dr. Millar’s research interests centre around the goal of improving the sexual and reproductive health of marginalized girls and young women, both locally and internationally. She is particularly interested in innovative approaches to prevention and care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for this high-risk group, including inter-disciplinary collaboration and community partnership.
