Wayne Lee

Wayne started his career in the SickKids Research Institute in 2008, developing novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and data analysis techniques. Prior to SickKids, he received his BA.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a M.Sc. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto. Over the years he took on progressive responsibilities working with clinical, industry, and academic partners to achieve strategic innovation with a focus on process and technology. In 2018, Wayne was appointed the Clinical Director of Diagnostic Imaging (DI). In his five years as director, he led the team through significant changes and challenges, including EPIC adoption and a global pandemic. Working closely with leadership across the hospital, the department was able to secure significant investments in staffing and cutting-edge technology to support DI’s continuing evolution as a global leader in paediatric radiology.

In 2022, Wayne returned to the Research Institute as the Executive Director of Research Operations. Wayne has always been a firm believer in the Research Institute mission to unlock and develop discoveries that will transform and enhance the health of children around the world. Working closely with the Chief of Research, Research Institute Executive Committee and the entirety of Research Operations, he is committed to ensuring the Research Institute can continue to flourish and be successful in its journey as one of the world’s top research enterprises.
