Biography

Dr. Marko Culjat joined The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) as a staff physician in 2022.

Dr. Culjat was a transport fellow in the Acute Care Transport Services at SickKids. Prior to joining SickKids, he completed his neonatal-perinatal fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C., and his paediatric residency at Kapi'olani Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i. He graduated from School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia.

Dr. Culjat obtained his M.Sc. degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from the Croatian Institute for Brain Research, University of Zagreb, with a focus on normal human fetal brain development.

Research

Dr. Culjat's current interests lie in quality improvement science, with a focus on transport and NICU settings. His portfolios include implementation of point-of-care ultrasound and telemedicine in transport and NICU settings. His previous research focused on human fetal brain development, and animal models of epilepsy.
