Biography

Laura Belsito is an enthusiastic health-care leader with experience in primary, community, and ambulatory care. Belsito comes to The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) from Women’s College Hospital where she was the Manager of the COVID Resource Staffing Centre leading the strategic redeployment and hiring of hundreds of staff to operate the COVID Assessment Centre, mobile testing and vaccine services, and a temporary Alternate Level of Care Unit. Belsito's role with COVID efforts focused heavily on providing data-driven recommendations to optimize human capital planning and workflows.

Belsito began her career practicing dietetics in paediatric and adult programs at the Canadian Mental Health Association, New Vision Family Health Team, and Two Rivers Family Health Team. Throughout her tenure, she was highly involved in program development and improving patient outcomes through quality initiatives. Belsito then went on to join the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario (AFHTO) where she worked with primary care teams across the province to scale best practices, implement data-driven process improvements, and conduct research.

Belsito completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Nutrition and Master of Applied Nutrition (MAN) from the University of Guelph. She is a Registered Dietitian with a passion for paediatrics and patient and family-centred care. Belsito joins SickKids as a Senior Manager of Operations in the Department of Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology focused on creating positive change through quality and process improvements.
