Biography

Dr. Lisa Allen joined the Section of Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology in 1998, after completing a fellowship at Women’s College Hospital in pelvic floor surgery and advanced minimally invasive surgery. Allen received her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She is currently the Head of the Section of Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology at SickKids, Staff in Gynaecology, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Staff in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Women’s College Hospital. She is also a Professor at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Allen is involved in the medical and surgical care of children and adolescents with general paediatric gynaecology disorders, as well as being a member of the Multidisciplinary Urogenital clinic for care of individuals with disorders of sex development. She participates in surgery for young women with congenital anomalies of the genital tract.

Research interests

Dr. Allen conducts clinical research in a variety of areas in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology including ovarian pathology, mullerian anomalies, disorders of sex development, and sexually transmitted infections. She also has published on alternative options for education in paediatric gynaecology.
