“To be recognized once again as a top research hospital is a testament to the remarkable work being done by our researchers, staff and trainees,” says Dr. Stephen Scherer, Chief of Research at SickKids.

Total research spending represented 27.3 per cent, or almost one-third, of SickKids' budget, reflecting SickKids' commitment to using the latest research to transform care aligned with Precision Child Health, a movement to deliver individualized care to each patient.

“Research is essential to the Precision Child Health movement,” Scherer continues. “Changing care and outcomes for children at SickKids and around the world begins with the insights generated by our scientific community.”

SickKids Research Institute is home to over 2,000 researchers, staff and trainees who are contributing to ground-breaking research across seven different programs, including Cell Biology, Child Health Evaluative Sciences, Developmental & Stem Cell Biology, Genetics & Genome Biology, Molecular Medicine, Neurosciences & Mental Health and Translational Medicine.
