Potential protest activity for second weekend at Queen’s Park may cause travel delays

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and our hospital neighbours near Queen’s Park are aware of the potential for protest activity this weekend. We are working with Toronto Police Service (TPS) to ensure patients, families and staff can safely access hospital campuses.

Patients and families who are travelling to and from SickKids this weekend should anticipate delays and consider taking transit in case of road traffic congestion. As of 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, the following streets are closed:

• College St. between Yonge St. and Bay St.
• Elizabeth St. from College St. to Gerrard St.
• Queen's Park Circle east to Bay St. on Wellesley St. W
• Bloor St. and Avenue Rd. south to Queen's Park Circle
• Queen's Park Circle in its entirety
• Queen's Park Circle to one block south of College St. on University.

There are police checkpoints in the area around SickKids. Patients and families can identify themselves as a SickKids patient and/or family member of a SickKids patient to pass through any checkpoints. Staff are reminded to carry hospital identification in case it’s needed for checkpoints.

The SickKids emergency department remains open. No scheduled appointments have been postponed at this time. If any appointments will be postponed, care teams will reach out directly to any patients and families who may be affected. Plans are in place to help ensure staffing levels are maintained and any disruptions to patient care are minimized.
