SickKids Emergency Department is open and safe

Our Emergency Department has the appropriate staffing, processes and protocols in place, including robust infection prevention and control measures, to ensure the safety of all patients, families and staff.
It has come to our attention that inaccurate recommendations have been made regarding the safety and accessibility of emergency care at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This is concerning advice and does not reflect the current situation at SickKids. We are looking into this and will take steps to correct this misinformation.
The Emergency Department at SickKids is open and continues to see patients in need of paediatric emergency care. We are well-staffed and able to support all patients in need of care. We have the appropriate processes and protocols in place, including robust infection prevention and control measures, to ensure the safety of all patients, families and staff.
Children experiencing anaphylaxis or other emergencies should be assessed at their nearest emergency department, including SickKids. Delaying urgent visits to the Emergency Department can create unnecessary health risks for children.
