The Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL) was open to the public this past weekend for Doors Open Toronto, and more than 1,340 people came to explore and learn about the SickKids Research Institute!

Researchers and students from all seven research programs led interactive exhibits to teach kids and adults about the work they do and to take the mystery out of science. Participants were able to build their own lung models, use virtual reality headsets to learn about cell division, genetically engineer a bee based on DNA sequencing, and learn about the brain through gelatin molds.

Visitors were also invited to take guided tours throughout the day to the 19th floor collaborative space and to the Robert B. Salter Auditorium, where they learned about the architecture of the building and the work of the Research Institute.

Thank you to all the staff who helped showcase the fantastic work that we do inside the PGCRL. We could not have done it without you!
