The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is proud to have been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2017 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. This is the fifth time since 2011 SickKids has received this award.

SickKids was chosen from applicants from across Canada. Applications are assessed against those of peer organizations based on the following eight criteria:

  1. Physical Workplace;
  2. Work Atmosphere & Communications;
  3. Financial Benefits & Compensation;
  4. Health & Family-Friendly Benefits;
  5. Vacation & Personal Time-Off;
  6. Employee Engagement & Performance;
  7. Training & Skills Development; and
  8. Community Involvement.

SickKids is recognized for investing in our staff through ongoing training and development and helping staff prepare for the future through retirement education sessions. Community involvement, both locally and globally through programs such as the Herbie Fund, and our commitment to creating a healthy work environment through our robust wellness program, were also noted as reasons for selection.

“We are deeply committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment where every staff member is inspired to achieve excellence in their work and continue to provide compassionate care to our patients and families,” says Susan O’Dowd, Vice-President, Human Resources.

The Top 100 Employers were announced on Nov. 7 in a special editorial feature in The Globe and Mail, and are listed on Canada’s Top 100 Employers website.
