Government of Ontario invests in facility upgrades and repairs at SickKids

The Government of Ontario announced an investment of $125 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) in hospital repairs and upgrades across Ontario on Aug. 19, 2015. Of that investment, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) will receive over $5 million to protect the buildings against the elements and make necessary fixes and upgrades to aging building assets.
Han Dong, MPP, Trinity-Spadina, visited SickKids on Aug. 21 to specifically discuss the funding designated to SickKids, the University Health Network (UHN) and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), hospitals located within MPP Dong’s riding. He was joined by his colleague Arthur Potts, MPP Beaches-East York, as well as representatives from UHN, CAMH and the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
“We are thrilled by the Government of Ontario’s investment in hospital repairs and upgrades,” said Laurie Harrison, Vice President of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer at SickKids. “This funding will enable us to ensure our facilities continue to be safe and functional. And, it will allow us to always deliver the highest quality care to our patients and their families.”
