About the Clinic
The Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Program is managed by a team of health-care professionals who offer care, support and assessment to children and teenagers who may have been maltreated, and their families. The SCAN Program provides a link between SickKids and community doctors and hospitals, children's aid societies, police, schools and other community agencies.

What to bring:
It is recommended that a family member or friend accompany you and your child to the appointment.

Patients can register at the SCAN Clinic in Room 6427, Black Wing.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Depending on your concerns, you may be seen by a doctor, nurse practitioner, social worker or psychologist. You and your child may be seen by one or more of these health-care providers. The length of visit will vary depending on your child’s needs.

In the case of an urgent concern there is a SCAN team member on call 24 hours a day. Call 416-813-7500 and ask to be put through to the SCAN team member on call. Please do not bring your child to the hospital before calling SCAN.
