Biography

Jian graduated from the Master of Science in Physical Therapy program at the University of Toronto in the fall of 2020.  During her physiotherapy program, she had the opportunity to complete a 12-week clinical placement at SickKids in several practice areas, assessing and treating patients in both the inpatient and ambulatory settings of the hospital. She had the opportunity to work alongside the burn team as a student and began to develop a passion for working with this patient population.

She is currently a member of the Burn team.  She is also working on a research project in the Genetic Metabolic Diseases program. In addition to these two roles, Jian provides additional coverage in the Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Rheumatology programs, as well as occasional inpatient coverage.

Research

Jian is in the process of publishing a journal article in Physiotherapy Canada that will describe professional practice leadership models currently in use within the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN) as they relate to physiotherapy. She is currently conducting a research study in the Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics at SickKids to investigate the effects of a physiotherapy program on joint range of motion, strength, function, and quality of life for patients diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS).
