About the Clinic

Appointments to the G Tube Issues Clinic are organized by the G Tube Resource Nurses between Monday to Friday. In-person and virtual appointments with the G Tube Resource Nurse can be arranged to troubleshoot skin and tube issues, discuss transition to adult care and support permanent tube removal.

Consults are typically 30 minutes long and all primary caregivers are encouraged to participate. The G Tube Issues Clinic is not a walk-in clinic. This means patients and families need an appointment. However, urgent issues can possibly be accommodated the same or next day.

Pre-appointment Instructions

Clinic registration is in IGT, where the clinic is located. Take the Atrium elevators to the 2nd Floor and look for the IGT sign. The registration desk is through the double doors.

You may be required to bring equipment and supplies, such as feeding tubes, to your appointment. Please discuss this with the G Tube Resource Nurse before your appointment.

Referral Information

The G Tube Resource Nurses are automatically linked to the care of children who receive their G or GJ tube at SickKids. A referral is needed to involve the G Tube Resource Nurse in the care of a child who has had their feeding tubes placed elsewhere.

To make a referral to the G Tube Issues Clinic:

  • Access the “EpicCare Link” through the eCHN website . Learn more about registering for EpicCare Link on Refer a Patient.
  • Select “Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition”.
  • Select “General”.
  • Once the referral is triaged, the G Tube Resource Nurses will contact the family and organize a booking into clinic as needed.

Requisitions

Referrals to outpatient clinics are via EpicCare, a part of eCHN.
